Job role:  Maths/English Outreach Teacher/Tutor

Job Type: Part Time Monday- Friday

Pay: £16.00 – £27.00 per hour

Job description

Broadstones School Ltd is a DFE registered independent special schoolworking with up to 20 learners with SEMH needs and an Education and Health Care Plan.

It achieved a Good from Ofsted in the last full inspection in 2019 and provides a high quality of education. The core ethos of the school is to provide a nurture-based environment where learners can undertake academic subjects alongside a vocational offer alternative provision. This offer provides a wide curriculum base to engage and motivate learners to re-engage with education and provide a clear route to post-16 pathways.

The majority of students leave with between five and twelve qualifications from Entry Level up to and including GCSE from Edexcel and Gateway in both core and vocational areas. We are a forward looking and innovative school that seek to transform the lives of the pupils in our care.

The school has also helped develop alternative provision within the organisation to support learners from other schools to attend and gain qualifications in vocational areas as well as an outreach service to work with learners unable to access traditional school environments.

The school has achieved National Nurture School status and has a staff team that are committed to understanding the SEMH needs of learners and adjusting the curriculum and learning accordingly.

Do you have a background in education/special education/vocational education/ apprentices, or private tutoring? You must have an interest in working with challenging young people or young people with learning difficulties e.g. Autism

The teaching/mentoring may take place in our school base, in the pupil’s home or in the community such as the library.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is an advantage but not essential

This role would suit someone self-employed or interested in flexible part time hours.

You will need to be patient, caring and show resilience to work in this area.

The abilities range from entry 2 to GCSE level.
