Outreach Parent Feedback and our Responses
Broadstones Outreach regularly collects Feedback from the parents/carers of pupils who access our service.
Please see below for some parental feedback- and how we have acted on these:
You Said:
‘More opportunities for socialising with pupils of their age’
We Said:
We are aware that this has at times been an issue within vocational sessions, and has been linked to lockdown/attendance issues. We now have a cohort of pupil’s whose attendance is far more consistent, and this allows pupil’s more opportunities to mix with peers of their age and to develop positive friendships.
You Said:
‘It would be nice to see some of the work my child does, or has done, at the vocational centre’
We Said:
This has been discussed with vocational staff and SMT and staff have begun sharing evidence of pupil’s work with parents. There is also the opportunity to see and to buy pupil’s work from Construction, and to attend local Bee Markets where pupil’s work is sold (all parents are invited to attend)
You Said:
‘A longer day rather than half a day’
We Said:
For Outreach pupils this is dependent on funding and availability of free slots in sessions- we always endeavour to provide pupils with appropriate AP sessions but have to always take these factors into account.
You Said:
‘Child struggles with lunch times and says he feels really awkward, perhaps a little flexibility?’
We Said:
This has been discussed with vocational staff- there are various opportunities over the lunch break for pupil’s to either have some quiet time and use their phone, or join in with other pupils/staff in conversations/games etc. During lunch at Broadstones pupils are provided with a choice of hot and cold meal options (all healthy and can be adapted to meet pupil’s dietary and sensory needs) Most of our pupils are highly anxious so struggle with lunch/social times, particularly when they first start. Staff are aware of this and make a concerted effort to make all pupils feel welcomed and adapt to pupil’s individual needs and anxieties.
